Without the factual data of form factor, the estimated volume of standing tree might be either over- estimated or under-estimated. But, form factor has not properly studied yet in Nepal. It has lack of literatures & research reports. Thus, it has an utmost requirement for the volume estimation of volume of standing trees which has significant application in case of community forest of mid-hills of Nepal. The main objective of the study was to determine the form factor of major tree species i.e., Sal , Chilaune , Katus , Salla and Miscellaneous species of Parbat district . For the purpose of study , Kali Gandaki Chhamarke Patal CFUG, Shivalaya VDC-8,9 Kushma ; Gupteshwor CFUG , Kushma , Shivalaya VDC ; Bause Okhaldhunga CFUG, Bause , Bajung- 2 ; Jhankri Salla CFUG , Durlung VDC-Deurali -4 ; Channoute CFUG , Durlung VDC-7 ; Dhiku Maidan Darbar CFUG, Bajung VDC - 6,8,9 & Gajoute CFUG , Shivalaya VDC were randomly selected . Both primary and secondary data were collected . Primary data like diameter measurements  from different sections were taken from either felling of trees or climbing up of trees or using Wheeler Penta Prism . Diameter measurements were taken from 210 standing trees by climbing up of trees . 80 trees were felled for the measurement of diameter . Form factor was determined through calculating diameter at the point of measurement to the diameter at the breast height.  Average form factor of Sal, Chilaune , Katus , Salla and Miscellaneous species are 0.709 , 0.725 , 0.734 , 0.749 and 0.727 respectively . Species – wise form factor reveals that Sal has lower form  factor while Salla has higher form factor. Average form factor of sapling stage , pole stage and tree stage tree are 0.7685 , 0.771 and 0.6475 respectively . Sapling stage trees have higher form factor ( 0.7685 ) and mature stage tree have lower average form factor. Analysizing the experiment , average  form factor of trees by measuring through climbing up of trees shows 0.591 while by the experiment method of felling trees and using Wheeler Penta Prism for standing trees shows 0.867 . Influence of altitude, soil, aspect, species density, method of study etc. on determining form factor should be studied prior to generalize about overall nature of form factors. Taper tables should be  prepared through accompanying this study output . 16
